Black History Month

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

As most of you are aware, we are quickly winding up the first month of the year.  So far… so good.  As we forge ahead to February to celebrate Black History Month, I’ve decided to honor my late Great Uncle, Ovaltine Johnson… (AKA Frohawk).

Ovaltine Johnson was most remembered for his innovative dance moves in the late 1940’s.  Coining the phrase “That shit’s wack!” and “Don’t make me break my foot off in yo’ ass”, Ovaltine spent the majority of the decade headlining professional dance contests with his great friend Andrea.
Ovaltine was a firm believer in the manner of telling it like it is.  He is celebrated for starting the “racism is stupid” movement in 1963, along with Miguel Sanchez and Bob Crackerass.  Their movement involved the idea that nobody should be offended by jokes… as long as they are funny.  He also started the idea stating that it is the people who ARE offended by jokes of ethnical differences who are fueling the hate and keeping racism alive.
So, in agreement with the ideas of Ovaltine Johnson, I say we should keep humor alive.  No more of this “I’m telling because he hurt my feelings” crap.  Sit back and laugh once in a while.  Everyone has been through rough times at one time or another, but that is all the more reason to forge ahead, rather than living in the past.  In other words… the past does not equal the future.
“Show me a person that is afraid to look bad, and I’ll show you a person that will lose every fight in his/her life.” - Ovaltine Johnson

Debt Consolidation VS. Bankruptcy

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

A lot of people have asked what my feelings are in regards to my credit situation.  I’d be lying if I said I was the expert.  However what very few people do know is there are several completely legit ways to get your personal credit back into shape.

Debt settlement is one of the fastest growing industries in the US today.  It is a completely aggressive market of companies that will go to bat for you in an attempt to settle your debt.  Debt settlement is a cheap alternative to filing for bankruptcy or debt consolidation loans.

However, because this is such a competitive market, you have to be careful of who you are dealing with.  There are debt settlement companies whose only intention is to milk people for every dollar they have.  Companies such as Credit Solutions (Dallas, TX) are an example of an organization that hires and fires straight commission salespeople to ‘assist you’ in fixing your credit.  How do I know?  Because I have worked with over 30 of these ‘Debt Analysts’ at another sales organization… and just like most bad salespeople, hop from job-to-job screwing people out of money.  They are trained to “SELL, SELL, SELL” and “Write ‘em or Roast ‘em”, just like every bad sales job I’ve ever been in.  Bottom line… be careful who you’re dealing with.

On the flip side, a great group of guys out of Dallas have merged to form Alliance for Debt Relief.  These guys will not waste time with people they can’t help.  They are some of the most genuine people I have ever talked to, and truly have a passion for what they do.  I would recommend them over any organization in the country.

Now again, keep in mind this is just my opinion.  If you want to find out for yourself, do the research.  I hope this helps if you are finding yourself in a financial plight.  But before you file for bankruptcy, consider looking into debt settlement.
