Seriously? I Did It Again?

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I’ve totally neglected my blog again.  If anyone cares, raise your hand.  If you raised your hand, then you my friend are super awesome… because no one will ever know you did.

So how about some random musings?  Ok, so they’re not really musings… more like things that have made me laugh hysterically the past week.

The End.

Ultimate Warrior Returns, New Weezer Album

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

There are very few things that I get excited about in the entertainment world these days.  That may be due to the fact that the majority of the music, TV shows, and movies that come these days are just plain generic and awful.  June may change this trend forever…

I normally don’t rant and rave about upcoming releases, but if you don’t get excited about these next three things then something is definitely wrong with you.

First and foremost, being a long-time wrestling fan, I am TOTALLY pumped about the in-ring return of The Ultimate Warrior.  I’ve been a fan of wrestling since I was about 8 years old, and this guy is the reason behind it.  A good guy with a maniacal edge… and intensity that could fire you up to make you think you could stop a train by yourself.  The Warrior, which is his legal name now, is set to return to the ring on June 25th in Barcelona, Spain.  For more info, or to watch his day-by-day return go to UltimateWarriorTV.com

Ultimate Warrior Returns

On the music side of things, two GREAT bands have long-awaited releases slated for June as well.  The Offspring and Weezer both bring HUGE album cuts that are playing all over the radio.  The Offspring’s first single “HammerHead” from the new album Rise & Fall, Rage & Grace is back to their originial brand of hard-hitting punk riffs and Misfit-like choruses.  If you don’t know what THAT means, then stop reading right now.  New album comes out on June 17th.  Check out their upcoming show dates on Offspring.com

Judging by the sound of the new single “Pork & Beans” from Weezer’s new self-titled release (AKA The Red Album June 24th), I can only assume that this will be a legendary album.  The crunching guitars and sing-along melodies demonstrate a TRUE talent, very rarely found in the music industry today: the ability for a song to give you goosebumps.  Don’t believe me?  Go listen to it right now on the homepage of Weezer.com

So far, June’s looking good.  Either way… stop watching reality TV… it’s stupid.

Black History Month

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

As most of you are aware, we are quickly winding up the first month of the year.  So far… so good.  As we forge ahead to February to celebrate Black History Month, I’ve decided to honor my late Great Uncle, Ovaltine Johnson… (AKA Frohawk).

Ovaltine Johnson was most remembered for his innovative dance moves in the late 1940’s.  Coining the phrase “That shit’s wack!” and “Don’t make me break my foot off in yo’ ass”, Ovaltine spent the majority of the decade headlining professional dance contests with his great friend Andrea.
Ovaltine was a firm believer in the manner of telling it like it is.  He is celebrated for starting the “racism is stupid” movement in 1963, along with Miguel Sanchez and Bob Crackerass.  Their movement involved the idea that nobody should be offended by jokes… as long as they are funny.  He also started the idea stating that it is the people who ARE offended by jokes of ethnical differences who are fueling the hate and keeping racism alive.
So, in agreement with the ideas of Ovaltine Johnson, I say we should keep humor alive.  No more of this “I’m telling because he hurt my feelings” crap.  Sit back and laugh once in a while.  Everyone has been through rough times at one time or another, but that is all the more reason to forge ahead, rather than living in the past.  In other words… the past does not equal the future.
“Show me a person that is afraid to look bad, and I’ll show you a person that will lose every fight in his/her life.” - Ovaltine Johnson
